- It would take ALOT of plants to affect the water chemistry. If your Nitrite is only 0.5 I wouldnt be too worried. It sounds like you are pretty close to being cycled. Just check the parameters often and do a water change if Ammonia or Nitrites get over 1.0 PPM ... I hope it is. I check the parameters twice daily and have been changing once daily using prime and stability. I even got some special koi bb from a koi farm yesterday.
